With a water locked United Kingdom, and a multitude of gorgeous beaches dotting the coast, we’re spoiled for choice on the perfect ‘weekend by the beach’ destination options. Sure, Brighton and Bournemouth make for fun, dazzling trips but if you’re in search of something a little more…relaxed and luxurious, Beach Fistral and Barafundle Bay Beach are, in our humble opinion, the perfect ‘island’ getaways? (pun intended)
Beach Fistral
Just off the north face of Cornwall, lies Beach Fistral a stunning Bohemian looking beach that is known for its big waves and cove like appearance. Head there early and watch the adrenaline filled surfers catch some of Britains best waves, or a little later in the day to enjoy gorgeous serene views, sand paths and breath taking crashing blue waves.
Just overlooking the beach is one of our favourite hotels and spa, The Headland Cornwall. Just a short 2 minute walk from the beach, this lavish and stylish Victorian building has cottages and rooms that whisk you away from your city problems and not to mention a phenomenal spa that can help diffuse the remaining tension! The elegant establishment hosts private self catering cottages that allow for the much needed peace and serenity.
Our Monoo Dusk Till Dawn collection was the perfect accompaniment to the upscale setting of the hotel as we strolled though the Victorian grounds. Sicily makes the perfect beach coverup as you sit back and gaze on the horizon dotted with surfers, Menorca and Maldives compliment all the gorgeous tones in your sun kissed skin and the lush surroundings!
The food around Newquay is just as divine as the views and the vibes around Beach Fistral. The boathouse which specialises in street food on the beach, is the perfect accompaniment to any day on the beach serving up delicious street food a la view! We highly recommend the sautéed prawns or any of their seafood dishes! For a dinner or lunch with a view, head to Beaucliffes Restaurant. Their gorgeous conservatory overlooks Porth beach nearby as they serve up delicious Cornish and continental delicacies and treats. The ambiance of the seating is to die for and the food is equally refined and delicious. From views to food, there is no shortage of options around Beach Fistral, which is exactly why we love it!
Barafundle Bay Beach
A little further North than Cornwall, lies Baranfundle Bay Beach in Stackpole, Wales. The secluded cove in the East hosts gorgeous crystal clear waters and golden sand terrain backed by grand dunes and lush pine trees. This hidden gem is the perfect location to truly forget that you’re in the UK as your settings emulate a stunning Caribbean beach. Although truly breathtaking, this beach is isolated which means there are little facilities around and all your necessities have to come with you. We promise however, what it lacks in convenience it more than makes up for in views, scenery and tranquility. Sounds like the perfect time for a picnic on the beach!
With the serenity of the atmosphere, and the stunning seclusion of Barafundle Bay Beach, our Wild Horizons collection makes for the perfect coverup as you stroll through the gorgeous dunes. Let Nairobi accompany on your early morning strolls by the water, and Johannesburg give you shelter from the midday sweltering summer heat! Malawi makes for the perfect evening transition piece worn over a bathing suit or a simple black dress, the options are truly endless!
Our favourite hotel nearby is the Stackpole Inn for the perfect mix of refined rooms and boho cottage ambiance. Although the stone village resort is a short drive away, it is an oasis of calm located close enough to the beach and provides the most serene accommodation on your little getaway. The have a relaxing beer garden and a phenomenal restaurant you have to try! With plenty of best restaurant awards the head chef Matt Waldron creates the most sensational locally sourced dishes with flair, if you happen to see the seasonal roasted Welsh lamb rump - we highly suggest you try it! 
Although these are some of our favourite beaches, there is no shortage of remarkable beaches around the UK. From coast to coast, wherever you land on, we know it’ll be magical, and if you need a guarantee…take a Monoo kaftan!
